Ton Heat Pump
can I install a 3.5 ton Heat Pump with a 3 ton Air Handler?
My neighbor is out of work and his AC just went out. Its his heat pump that went bad. I'm trying to help him out but I need some help. I have access to a 3.5 ton heat pump but his home has a 3 Ton Air handler. Can I install the 3.5 on the 3 and be safe?

The air handler on the older R22 units can be a larger tonnage than the condenser. You are talking about doing the opposite. This is not a good idea for longevity of the system. You will suffer loss of efficiency and much shorter compressor life.
